Suicide remains a serious public health issue in our communities and across our country, but there are ways that each of us can work together to save lives from suicide. Suicide is preventable, and I challenge you to choose at least one action item below to help our community in preventing suicides and providing someone “More Tomorrows” during the month of September.
- Learn the warning signs to watch for in yourself or a loved one as well as what to do if you identify them by visiting MoreTomorrowsNE.org.
- Ask someone how they are doing, offer them a smile, be aware of those around you, or just offer a kind word or hello.
- Check in on a loved one you haven’t heard from in a while.
- Change your language from “committed suicide” to “died by suicide” to help break down the stigma surrounding suicide.
Learn more language tips on the Kim Foundation website. - Reach out for help if you or a loved one is struggling. Visit MoreTomorrowsNE.org or call/text 988 for resources.
- Remember, you are never alone!
