The Book Fair will be coming very soon! We are planning some fun activities to go along with this year's theme of "Monster Book Fair, Reading is so much fun, you'll get goosebumps!" Our Book Fair will be here October 19-23. Hope to see you at the Fair!
College visits are an important part of deciding where you may want to go to college. They give you an opportunity to see the campus, gather information about programs, housing, and activities. Here are a few ideas for making your campus visit a success.
Anyone who knows me can tell you how I feel about reading. But in case you haven't heard, I love to read. I can't imagine a world with nothing to read. (Maybe that's what my post-apocalyptic world would look like.) I always tell the kids reading is important. You need to read a lot. Read, read, then read some more!
Seems John Baylor (of the ACT Prep course) agrees with me. Here's a paraphrase of what he says. High school kids need to read AT LEAST a book a month during the summer. During the school year, in addition to reading ALL the assignments, they need to read at least book every other month. (That amounts to about 6-7 books on their own every year.) "You'll never be penalized in your life for not having gone hang gliding or rock climbing or skiing. However, I guarantee you will be penalized on the ACT for not reading!" John Baylor So listen to John Baylor! Go Read! I am excited to have added a new page with upcoming events on my website. All events are targeted to Axtell students (like visits from college reps), but things like ACT test dates and registration deadlines pertain to all students. The calendar is updated in real time as I add events.
